Meagan Abercrombie
Meagan (Engh) Abercrombie was born and raised in the Fraser Valley, with deep roots in Mission and Abbotsford. Her family members are realtors, teachers, loggers, builders, and health professionals in the local community.
She is a compassionate and effective advocate who provides a clear path toward fair and creative resolutions for those experiencing transitions and/or conflict in their family life.
Ms. Abercrombie obtained her law degree from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC in 2021 and was called to the bar in 2022, after completing an externship with Rise Women’s Legal Centre where she provided non-profit legal services for marginalized women facing family violence.
She worked at another large firm in the Fraser Valley before transitioning to Baker Newby LLP where she is currently a family law associate. Ms. Abercrombie is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia in good standing and a member of the Canadian Bar Association enrolled in the Fraser Valley Family Law section.
Ms. Abercrombie has seen the benefit of mediation and custom agreements providing both flexibility and stability for parties in transition.
She is excited to take part in assisting parties through the collaborative process, as an alternative model of reaching out of court settlements with more support. Ms. Abercrombie is a member of C.A.L.M., the Collaborative Association of the Lower Mainland www.nocourt.net, after completing her collaborative certification in February of 2025 and is currently in the process of completing her mediation training.
Collaborative law offers a multi-disciplinary approach where all professionals are on the same team, working to shape a future that both parties are satisfied with. This stands apart from the traditional adversarial process of litigation, which can entrench parties and even escalate their conflict.
Ms. Abercrombie also has a heart for community involvement and has volunteered with SARA for Women in Mission, the Immigration and Refugee Centre Society in Victoria, Pro-Bono Students Canada in Vancouver, the Mission Hospice Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley, and Abbotsford’s Hope for Women pregnancy centre presenting on family law rights.
She conducts effective legal research to obtain the most recent cases to defend her clients in both the Provincial and Supreme Court of British Columbia. She has written articles for law firms on hot-button topics such as pet custody, and stays current with updates in family law.
Ms. Abercrombie is of Coast Salish Squamish Nation (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw) descent and is also half Costa Rican. She is happy to assist clients fluently in Spanish.
Outside of the office, you can find Meagan singing with her musical and wonderful husband at church or going to the park with their young daughter and lovable Pitbull.
